TRICK OR TREAT: Top 3 Guides to Wearing an Hat

Fabulous tricks for all hat lovers

Famous international hat designer, Phillip Treacy shared his tips for selecting the perfect headpiece - and somewhat refreshingly, acknowledged that it's not an easy task.

Below are three points you should know;

- "Shopping can be a nightmare - first finding something to wear and then finding something to go with it, it's so difficult when there's so much choice. It can feel like entering a battle ground”. "So my advice is to always choose something simpler - an expressive outfit, plus a hat, can be frightening."

- Keep it simple. That we can do. The milliner has dressed some of the world's most famous heads – from Lady Gaga to Sarah Jessica Parker and the Duchess of Cambridge. And speaking of the latter, there was scarcely a hairstyle at the 2011 royal

wedding that wasn't styled around one of his headpieces. - "The success of a hat definitely lies with balancing the personality of the wearer with the type of occasion," he explained. "Don't listen to those rules about face shape. Try on 100 different hats if you can, until you find the one that suits you best. It's a trial and error thing."

Talk about a height difference! Olivia Munn was in London on Friday, and she got all prettied up for drinks with Stephen Merchant at the Groucho Club! The Hello Ladies actor and writer TOWERED over Olivia, who is over a foot shorter than him! Sadly, this odd couple didn't seem to be on a date, since there was no hand-holding or anything, and because Miz Munn is super serious with her leading man Joel Kinnaman.

That made us think something even better happened at this drinks meeting: Olivia and Stephen could be working together!!! EEK! We can hear the laughs now!

A cargo ship with 32 people aboard is on fire in the North Sea and an attempt to evacuate it has been called off because of stormy weather, Norway's rescue service said.
Twenty crew and 12 military personnel aboard the Britannia Seaways are fighting the fire, which started in a container, a spokesman said.

No injuries have been reported and the fire did not appear to be spreading as the vessel headed toward Floroe on the Norwegian coast, escorted by rescue ships and helicopters.
Armed forces spokesman Ivar Moen says the ship is carrying armoured vehicles and other military equipment from northern Norway to take part in an exercise in the southern part of the country.

Church services in typhoon city

Church services in typhoon city

Churches in parts of the Philippines destroyed by Typhoon Haiyan are holding Sunday services. Bells rang out from the badly damaged Santa Nino church in the worst hit city of Tacloban. More than 80% of the 90 million people in the Philippines are Roman Catholic. The November 8 typhoon killed more than 3,500 people and destroyed or damaged hundreds of thousands of homes. A major international relief effort is under way to assist survivors. Hours after the storm hit, Father Amadero Alvero was on the streets, sprinkling holy water over the dead and praying for them.

T he 44-year-priest then returned to church and led mass at Santa Nino. "Despite what happened, we still believe in God," he said. "The church may have been destroyed, but our faith is intact, as believers, as a people of God, our faith has not been destroyed." Today Fr Alvero lead a service for about 500 people in the church in Tacloban. Sun shone for the first service, but by the second, rain was falling through a hole in the roof. It was one of scores of churches across the region holding services that were attended by thousands, many homeless and grieving.

Some came to give thanks for surviving, others to pray for the souls of the departed. Tacloban, a city of 220,000 people, was largely levelled by the November 7 typhoon. Fr Alvero carried on his work until the fifth day, blessing bodies wherever they lay - in smashed cars or floating in water - then stopped when the smell became too much for him, though he said other priests have continued.

Asked why God would allow a storm so powerful and so deadly to obliterate the region, claiming the lives of so many innocents and causing immense suffering, Fr said: "We are being tested by God, to see how strong our faith is, to see if our faith is true. This is a test of God. He wants to know that we have faith in him in good times, as well as in bad." Santo Nino and other churches have also been helping care for those who survived. About 30 families are living in the church, and there are boxes of water and canned goods and food piled up on the premises.
