MIKEL: WE'RE ON THE FLIGHT TO BRAZIL

MIKEL: WE'RE ON THE FLIGHT TO BRAZIL

Chelsea star insists Eagles World Cup destiny are in their hands

Chelsea of England midfielder,Mikel Obi is confident the Super Eagles will give Nigerians another cause for celebration this weekend by securing the 2014 World Cup ticket.

The Eagles play Ethiopia in the second leg of their play-off for the quadrennial football festival and Mikel,in the following interview culled from mtnfootball believes Nigeria's destiny is in her hands as far as making it to the world cup is concerned...

Millions of Nigerians believe the Eagles have already booked a place in Brazil 2014 after the 2-1 win in Ethiopia in the first leg of the playoff, do you share same with them?

Mikel: We are not yet there, but almost. We still have a leg to play in Nigeria, so after that we can celebrate our ticket.

Do you see Ethiopia posing a threat to the Eagles World Cup ambition despite the first leg win?

They are a good side, no small teams in world football again, but we are the ones to make decisions. We are not looking for favours from anywhere. We have the ticket in our hands and we have our destiny in our hands, so we are not going to throw it away.

What has been the driving force in the Eagles?

We are united as one family, we are all dedicated to the cause of the team, that's all.

How is the approach to the return leg against Ethiopia going to be?

We are taking it serious. It is crucial and as for me, it is a cup final that we need to win. I am sure that is the situation with every other member of the team.
Chelsea under Jose Mourinho the second time, how has it been?

Everyone know the ability of Mourinho, he is one of the best in the world. It is good to be working with him again. It has been nice, he brought me here and gave me the breakthrough.  He knows how to get the best out of the players.

What are your targets with Chelsea?

As usual, I want to win all the trophies at stake. My mentality has been to win in any competition I play. I think we are good enough to win all the trophies we are in, though it is too early to write off any team or think a trophy is won or lost.

You have another Nigerian, Kenneth Omeruo, as your team mate after Victor Moses left for Liverpool on loan, how has it been?

It is good to have a brother around. He is a nice guy and a good player. It is wonderful to have him around.

Warri— PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan declared yesterday, in Warri, that but for the Church the country would have disintegrated, just as he assured Nigerians that by the end of April next year there would be relative steady power supply.

Speaking at the flag off of this year’s Word of Life Bible Church’s Jubilee Word Festival at the International Gospel Centre, Warri, the President, paid glowing tributes to Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor who marked his birthday yesterday, describing him as a “very very strong president of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN.”

President Jonathan was accompanied by the governors of Plateau, Delta and CrossRiver states; Minister of Information and several PDP leaders, including the newly sworn in senator representing Delta Central District and the executive secretary of Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Speaking on The Role of Citizens in Nation Building, the president said nation building is a collective responsibility, and challenged Nigerians to join hands with his administration for the onerous task of building the nation.
He said: “Whenever I have the opportunity to address a religious gathering like this, I always like to repeat myself that but for the Church, this country would probably have gone into oblivion.
“You have been praying persistently day and night and that is why some of our challenges are still at this level. Nigerians are totally committed, not pretenders.”

Liverpool player forced to abandon Porsche after Sat Nav gaffe

Liverpool player forced to abandon Porsche after Sat Nav gaffe

By Eurosport

Sometimes footballers are unfairly criticised for apparent stupidity and reckless abandon, while on other occasions it appears to be more justified.
ED will leave you to make up your own minds after reading this blog, but Liverpool's Andre Wisdom may have not quite lived up to his name in this situation.

The Premier League defender was forced to leave his £100,000 Porsche abandoned in a muddy trough after his satellite navigation system led him through the country roads. Wisdom, the England U21 captain, was sent through quiet forest roads on Friday night by his car's Sat Nav which left him walking three miles to a main road after his car ended up getting stuck in the mud.

He is currently on loan at Derby County and was on his way to their home game with Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend when the incident occurred.
A Derby County spokesman said: "Andre visited a local shop on the way to Saturday's game against Sheffield Wednesday and, being new and unfamiliar to the area, he programmed the stadium's postcode into his Sat Nav.

He added: "The route provided took him down a less than traditional road, where conditions were also poor, and ultimately his car got stuck."

Local mountain biker Pete Irons found Wisdom's Porsche Panamera Turbo, worth £100,000, in the ditch close to Breadsall Priory Marriot Hotel outside Derby.
He informed the police and was shocked to think the car had got that far in the terrible conditions.
He said: "To get to that point he would have to have come through an equally muddy section, I have no idea what he was thinking.
"We are miles from any main road, and the track doesn't go anywhere, it's just mind boggling how he ended up there.
"I think it will definitely need a bit of TLC in a garage."
Wisdom may just find himself subjected to chants along the lines of "Where is your Porsche? Where is your Porsche? Andre Wisdom, where is your Porsche?"

Against the backdrop of the outbreak of cholera in some states of the country, environmental experts have emphasised the need for manufacturers of products like sachet water to invest in recycling in order to eliminate negative impact of pollution on health and safety of Nigerians.

The 5 lies guys tell on Facebook

The 5 lies guys tell on Facebook

Facebook stalking a hot guy? Don't believe everything you read.
By Lauren House for YourTango.com

Do you use Facebook to expand your dating pool? You're not the only one. And if you don't, you might be missing out. Why? With Facebook there is a transparency because you can actually see potential partners' photos, read their interactions, and extract a greater understanding of their their day to day reality.
You can even do a little investigative digging, asking mutual friends about them, analyzing photos, getting a feel for their personality based on how they interact with "friends" on their wall. Well ... that's if they are being honest and truly transparent. The danger with Facebook is that you can also create an identity for the intention of anything from getting a job, a date, or a social life (despite the reality that you sit at home feeling pretty cool about yourself for collecting a slew of "friends").

Lie alert! Relationship status
Relationship status can be very deceptive. You can declare yourself as single, in a relationship, engaged, married, in a civil union, in a domestic partnership, in an open relationship, it's complicated, separated, divorced, widowed -- or avoid answering anything at all, the go-to for many guys who are playing the field of the free dating site that is Facebook.

Even if his status is "single," don't trust it. Maybe he hasn't "gotten around" to changing his status yet. Do your digging before believing a Facebook relationship status. Check out a few photos. Or, just ask him straight up. If you trust him enough to go out on a date with him, you should be able to ask him the very simple question: "So, what's your relationship status?" Simple.
Lie alert! Friends
This is one of the areas that Facebook can create serious deception. You might seem to have 15 or just 2 friends in common and that automatically gives you a sense of comfort as you think "well he knows my friend from high school so he must be a good guy who I can trust."

Not so. Fact is that you can friend request anyone and, even if they don't know you from Adam (sorry all of you Adams out there), there is still a decent chance that you will be accepted; particularly if Facebook is used more for the purpose of business than keeping up with your true friends and family.
If a fake is interested in creating a sense of trust with you, he very well could go through your friend list, spot those who use the site for purposes of business, friend request them, and pack on a bunch of "friends" that you have in common.
Lie alert! Age
Age is another one of those hidden facts on Facebook that are revealed on other online dating sites (though people lie there, too). Not sure that he is the age he claims to be? Check out his friends, schools he graduated from, activities, habits, speech and see if they sync up with what he says.

Lie alert! Occupation
What does a "Producer," "Entrepreneur," "Actor," "Businessman," or "CEO" actually mean? Is he the CEO of a no-name company that brings in barely enough income to pay the bills? People can assign themselves pretty fancy labels despite the fact that they have nothing to show for it. Again, ask questions: "Oh, so you're a producer? What have you produced? Oh nothing yet… Hmmm. So what do you do for a living?"

Lie alert! Hobbies
You're a foodie. He's not. But if he wants you, he can easily pretend he is a foodie too by "checking in" to restaurants without actually dining there. All he has to do is get in close enough proximity and the restaurant comes up on his phone. Do you know about all the hottest hotels from around the world? He can easily source photos from the Internet and post them on his wall as if he had been there, too. But he doesn't have to be that deceptive; all of his posts can be legitimate, but just show the better half of his extracurriculars. It's called strategy.

A 101 Year Old Marathon Runner Discovered The Secret Behind Limitless Energy!!!

A 101 Year Old Marathon Runner Discovered The Secret Behind Limitless Energy!!!

It was brisk September morning and after months of training, I finally felt ready to run my very first marathon. As I was walking towards the start line I felt a rush of nervous energy and anticipation because I knew I was about to take on the toughest physical challenge of my life.

After weaving my way through the crowd to get close to the start line, I found myself a nice little spot where I could do some stretches and warm up my legs a little.

As I was stretching I glanced over my left shoulder and saw a man arching his back and pointing his chest towards the sky. He was a lot shorter than me and a bit more weathered but we struck up a conversation and amazingly after a few minutes of chatting I found out that I was actually talking to the oldest marathon runner on the planet.

I remember our conversation like it was yesterday.

He was soft spoken and he was brimming with energy. He told me that he just turned 101 years old and that this would be his 10th marathon.

I was in awe.

I was 45 years old and I had just met someone more than double my age who was about to put his body through more pain and more stress than I could possibly imagine.

What was more incredible was that only 3 days prior he had set 5 new world records (for his age) in different running races ranging from the 400 yard dash to the 10,000 meters.

I was truly dumbstruck.

Here I was, a middle aged guy trying desperately to keep fit as a way to cope with stress (and my ever expanding waist line while) and this 101 year old guy was running marathons and had energy to burn.

What’s your secret I asked him?

He looked at me puzzled.

While he slowly raised his hand over his head and bent to the side to stretch his hip, he told me that a long time ago he discovered that eating a certain combination of foods helped give him boundless energy.

I was skeptical.

But I looked again at this 101 year old man who was getting ready to do his 10 marathon, and my disbelief slowly faded.

What? Can you say that again? I asked him.

He told me that years ago he discovered that when he ate a combination of

broccoli, green tea extract and spirulina his energy levels dramatically increased.

He didn’t know why, or how, he just knew that he felt great and that now he never went a day without eating this magic combination of superfoods.

I can still remember his face and how his eyes lit up when he was telling me this.

After a few more stretches and general chit chat we both took off our tracksuits and started the race. My new found 101 year old friend finished the marathon in a respectable 5.5 hours and I hobbled across the line in just over 6.

After the race and the adrenalin died down I found myself thinking about the conversation I had with this guy at the start line.

How could it be possible that a simple combination of foods could give a

101 year old guy enough energy to run a marathon?

I needed more answers so it was time to do some research.

After plowing through hundreds of websites, research papers and medial journals I found a scientific study that backed up this guy’s extraordinary finding.

A research team in New Zealand found that when you combine these 3 magic ingredients something incredible happens.

The researchers found that when specific quantities of these foods are combined… the enzymes in your digestive track start to absorb more of the nutrients from the food you already eat.

Amazing.

And so simple as well.

It’s so obvious that if your body can absorb more of your nutrients from the food you already eat….. of course you will have lots more energy.

So then began my search to try and find if any places actually made a drink, or a powder or anything that had this magic combination of ingredients.

I wanted a powder or a ready made drink as I couldn’t see myself blending these foods together every day.

After some more surfing the web I came across a company called Athletic Greens.

I dug into who Athletic Greens were, what they stood for, and whether or not their product worked.

I found that Athletic Greens uses over 75 vegetables and had been specially formulated with broccoli, green tea extract and spirulina in order to maximize nutrient absorption.

The founder is also from New Zealand (and used to train celebrities) so I guess he has seen this research.

I had to try it.

I didn’t care about the cost so I happily paid the $97…. because if this product worked…it would be an absolute bargain.

After a few days of anxiously waiting by the mailbox for my Athletic Greens, it finally arrived.

I opened it immediately and put one tea spoon of the powder into a cup of water, stirred it round and drank it down.

It tasted sweet and and refreshing – not at all what I was expecting.

After finishing the glass I was expecting miracles straight away.

But nothing happened…. So I waited.

And then waited some more.

I drank one glass of Athletic Greens each morning for 5 days and I didn’t notice any changes.

But then on day 6…I noticed a shift.

Somehow I no longer felt tired. My joints felt better and I felt like I could run through walls.I had not felt like this in years.

I felt I had my youth back and that I could conquer the world.

I sat down for a minute and gathered my thoughts. I remembered the day when I first met that 101 year old marathon runner and what he said to me about this magic combination of superfoods.

And after only 6 days of taking Athletic Greens, I believed every word he told me.

Now, it’s been over 6 months since I first started drinking Athletic Greens– and I still feel great and my energy levels remain sky high.

Not surprisingly Athletic Greens has been getting a lot of press lately because best selling fitness authors like Tim Ferriss and world champion athletes are constantly promoting and using this amazing product.

Anyway I am really glad you have read this far, because I know at the moment Athletic Greens has a marketing special on and for the next few weeks you can try Athletic Greens for 21 days. Risk Free.

This means you DON’T have to pay the regular $97 price tag (which everyone still else still has to pay) and all you have to do is pay a small shipping and handling fee.

If you’re anything like me, you ‘re probably really skeptical about any product that promises the world.

But the great thing with this free trial is that you can discover for yourself whether Athletic Greens is the real deal. I assure you it is.

X Factor 2013: Ellie Goulding's dress stuns

Social media blew up after the first Sunday results show of X Factor 2013. But it wasn't down to Dermot O'Leary's bulge (did you see the trousers he wore on the Saturday show?). It wasn't anything judges Nicole Scherzinger, Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne and Gary Barlow did either.

Shockingly perhaps, Cher wasn't the cause of the buzz. However, the living legend of a diva not only sang live, she was rather conservatively dressed (for her, anyway). The big talking point was Ellie Goulding’s revealing dress.
The gold gown was split all the way up to her armpits. Va-va-voom! Well, if you're not going to twerk, this is one way to get everyone talking. She performed her number one hit Burn as uncomplimentary tweets flew in about her choice of dress.

TV critic Ian Hyland posted: 'Cher's going to be livid when she sees Ellie Goulding has nicked her dress.'

‏@LynScribbles tweeted: 'Just saw Ellie Goulding's dress on #xfactor. Someone's getting an open letter from Sinead O'Connor in the morning...'

‏@xohannahdaly  observed: 'Ellie Goulding doesn't pull that dress off as half as good as BeyoncĂ© did, girl got no hips.'

@hoppythehag joked: 'Make an Ellie Goulding dress by smearing some honey on a leotard and forward rolling through M&S Xmas department.'

@rhyssuxx begged: 'Can we burn burn burn burn Ellie Goulding's dress please?'

Yikes. Will we see that dress on Ellie again? By the way, Over 25s hopeful Lorna Simpson was voted out, but you've forgotten her already, right?

Strictly 2013: Fiona Fullerton and Anton du Beke

Actress Fiona Fullerton and Anton du Beke performed a decent paso doble to Blur’s Song 2. It definitely wasn't the best of dances from her professional partner though - tut, tut, Anton. Craig tore into the routine: 'For me, it was a little bit indifferent, it was a little bit vanilla. But I have to say - forgettable.' Ouch.

Len soothed the waters somewhat: 'I did see an element of flamenco going on in there. I thought you could have given it a bit more of aggression. But good job. Well done.' Fiona scored 26 points.

Lloyds Bank to launch cashback on current account spending

Updated: Tue, 05 Nov 2013 01:00:00 GMT | By lovemoney.com

Lloyds Bank to launch cashback on current account spending

From the end of this month, Lloyds current account customers will be able to earn up to 15% cashback on spending at certain retailers.

Lloyds Bank to launch cashback on current account spending

Lloyds Bank is joining the growing number of banks offering cashback on purchases made using current account debit cards.
Everyday Offers will allow current account customers to earn up to 15% cashback on spending at a range of retailers including:
  • Argos
  • Coast
  • Domino’s Pizza
  • Homebase
  • Morrisons
  • New Look
  • O2
  • Oasis
  • Ocado
  • Play.com
  • The Body Shop

  • The fact that Morrisons and Ocado are included in the scheme is interesting, as neither have their own loyalty scheme at the moment.
Everyday Offers launches at the end of November and is available to any customer registered for online banking.
And if you register, you could also receive a refund on one or more of your debit card purchases. Each week, Lloyds will reimburse one thousand card purchases a week, to a maximum value of £500, in a new initiative called It’s On Us.

You’ll be notified that you’re being refunded a few days after you’ve made the purchase and you’ll get your money back at the end of the next month.

    Lloyds accounts looking competitive

Depending on how many retailers participate and how much cashback is offered, Everyday Offers looks like another good reason to open a Lloyds Bank account.
The bank’s Classic Account with Vantage already pays 3% interest on balances between £3,000 and £5,000 – far more than the rate you’d earn on any instant access savings account. All you need to do to earn this rate is pay £1,000 a month into the account.

    Other current accounts paying cashback

Halifax, which is a subsidiary of Lloyds Banking Group, has already launched Cashback Extras. This is a very similar scheme to Lloyds’ Everyday Offers, with many of the same retailers. However, it's only available via the Halifax website and you are only shown 'personalised' offers, based on your spending habits. But it does promise up to 15% cashback at certain retailers.

And Halifax’s Reward account might further tempt you as it offers a £100 joining bonus when you make it your main current account. Plus if you pay in £750 a month, pay out two Direct Debits and stay in credit, you’ll earn £5 a month on top.

Elsewhere, NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland have Cashback Plus on their accounts. This pays out up to 1% of the value of purchases at specific retailers. This can then be taken as cash, donated to charity or ‘traded up’ for a higher value gift card or voucher.

However, no NatWest or RBS current accounts pay interest, or any other cash incentives, and the Cashback Plus scheme only has a small number of participating retailers at the moment, as well as a pretty mediocre rate of cashback.
Earn 5% interest from a current account

    Other ways to earn cashback

There are various other ways to earn cashback that don't involve opening a current account. You could just sign up for leading cashback sites such as Quidco and TopCashback.
Or you could use a cashback credit card (which you can use in conjunction with a cashback website) to earn money on all your spending. Top cards at the moment include the American Express Platinum Cashback Everyday card, which pays 5% cashback on the first three months up to a limit of £100 and up to 1.25% thereafter.
There's also the Santander 123 credit card, which pays 1% cashback on supermarket and Amazon.co.uk spending, 2% at department stores, and 3% at petrol stations and on National Rail and Transport for London spending. However, this card comes with a £24 annual fee, unless you're a 123 current account customer, in which case it's free for the first year.
